USA 1 ITALY 1

We tied Italy! Plus, Ghana beat the Czech Republic, so the USA still has a chance to advance, even though we're currently in last place in our group. So it's been an exciting day. :)

Well, I got through the whole day not knowing the score of the U.S. v Czech Republic game. When I got home, I asked John to try to download it for me, but he couldn't find it up anywhere. If only soccer fans were as dedicated as Family Guy fans!

Thinking I wouldn't be able to see the game for a while, I broke down and looked online for the score. (It took all of a half hour from the time I got home until I couldn't stand it anymore.)

Yea, we lost. I figured we would. And we'll lose to Italy. And that'll be the end of us. Oh well. I'm enjoying the World Cup anyway. :)

I feel pretty good tonight. Summer outdoor soccer started last night, and it felt really good to be back on the field and running around. The heat wasn't too bad at all once the sun went down. I played forward and scored once. Tonight I ran three miles.

In other news, Sprite Zero is a happy alternative to sugary soda. It's very fizzy and has no calories.

We made it to the championship game in our tournament but lost that game 2-0. I'm tired. Five hour-long games in two days. Time to shower! I'm taking a break from running tomorrow. :-P

Good night.

Today is the first day of our league's tournament. We won both games. I didn't score. I felt really tired the whole time. It's...hot. I got a bad sunburn. But between games, I drove down to a mall and bought four shirts and a hat, which was fun.

I'm exhausted. John and I are using a gift certificate for a fancy Italian restaurant tonight for my birthay. I am so hungry. And tired. And sunburned.

We're watching Lost.

It about an hour, some girls from my soccer team will be coming by to pick me up for the tournament in Vegas. Yay!

It's actually cool outside today. It looks a little overcast, and it might rain. Today is perfect soccer weather. I hope the weather is like this in Vegas tomorrow but it will probably be hot.

I took today off work. This morning, John and I slept in a little and then went to Starbucks to use a Starbucks gift card someone gave me for Christmas. I got a green tea latte. This is the first time I've ever had a green tea latte, and I was very very pleased. I wonder if I can figure out how to make that at home. It was a nice and relaxing morning.

We got Mexican food for lunch. I love Mexican food. Cilantro and lime juice. Mmmm. I definitely live in the right state.

I got a couple books from the library yesterday, and decided to take Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies to Vegas. I've been meaning to read it for a long time.

I loaded up the iPod last night with Belle and Sebastian, Hem, the Mountain Goats, Bright Eyes, Richard Buckner, and other thoughtful music that's good for traveling. I have several new (to me) albums to get to know, which is fun.

I have not gone jogging all week. This is very bad. My soccer team has a tournament in Vegas at the end of the month and I need to be in better shape.

I'm excited about the Vegas tournament. I also just found out that right after the Vegas tournament, we're playing in a tournament in Phoenix and a couple weeks after that we start the summer season. The summer games are all played at night under the lights, but it'll still be very hot. Also, John and I just met a couple through our church who play indoor soccer on a C-level team (my outdoor team is B). It's a coed team and they need more players, so John, Ryan, and I are all going to join for the next 8-week session. I'm very excited about that. The games will be the same day as my outdoor games (Sunday) but they'll be earlier in the day.

I've been stuck with needles three times this week - twice for MRIs and once for giving blood. My mother would be proud. She was really surprised the last time I gave blood (several months ago). I'm terrible with needles. I like giving blood, though, because it's such an easy thing to do to help out. I have 0+ blood, the most common type of blood, so a lot of people can use my blood.

I am so tired. I need to sleep a lot tonight and stop staying up late. It's hard to go jogging when I'm tired. I have no motivation. I think I'll walk to the library. At least it'll be exercise.

Well, I'm up at 1:00 working on a paper. But I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere. I have an outline! Other obsessively organized people may understand how important this is to me.

I knew about this paper a week ago and have been fretting about it (but not really working on it) since then. It's due in a week now, so hopefully I'll stop fretting and really work. Tomorrow. I'm going to bed now.

Tomorrow should be a relaxing day at work. Today was kind of crazy. We had extended our enrollment deadline to 5:00, which means I worked until 7:00. I am the very last person in the chain for getting students into class, so whenever they extend the enrollment deadline, I'm the last one working.

My soccer team is currently in first place. We are 5 - 0. I feel very out of shape. I don't have a game next week, so I have a full two weeks to work on my shape level before our next game. I ran a slow 2 miles today. That needs to improve.

Tomorrow I'm getting a hair cut (at a REAL salon, not the usual $4 beauty school cut).
